What is the Wing Foil Youth Team?

Wing Foilers will consistently sail together getting the opportunity to be coached by professional coaches, including Fiona Wylde, to improve their Wing Foil Skills. Wing Foilers will be introduced to Wing Foil Racing, Wing Foil Freestyle, Wing Foil Swell Riding and More. Each team rider will receive personalized coaching and feedback to improve their skills and learn about the opportunities in the sport of Wing Foiling. Team riders will be encouraged to compete in local events, but that is up to the individual.

Who can participate?

Wing Foilers must be between 12 and 18 years old. For the safety of the team riders, you must be able to stay up wind, ride the foil, and make the majority of their transitions (tacks or gybes). The Wing Foil Youth Team is limited to 10 team riders to keep a low coach to student ratio for safety and learning purposes.

When and Where?

Wing Foil Youth Team trains twice a week on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from July 8th, 2024 to August 14th, 2024 from 3-5pm. We will meet at the Wylde Wind & Water Event Site Center and be launching from the Event Site.

Safety

We will be wing foiling in the Columbia River. To ensure the safety of all participants, a minimum of one coach boat will be present at all trainings. Team riders must wear life jacket, helmet, wing leash, board leash, whistle, and wear a bright colored shirt during trainings.

Equipment

Cost

Summer-Long Wing Foil Youth Team costs $550.00usd. Some days there will be no wind, but we will hold training. During the no-wind days, team riders will learn about nutrition, fitness, competition, and water safety rescue techniques. Team Riders should arrive with all of their equipment ready to go on the water, regardless of weather conditions.

Refunds

Cancellations made within the summer once Wing Foil Youth Team has started will not receive a refund.
